Fulham have launched an offer to sign Andreas Pereira and Manchester United will be hoping comments made by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer do not come back to haunt them after making their transfer decision. Pereira spent last season on loan in Brazil and is gearing up for a Premier League return.
Having touched down at Old Trafford more than a decade ago, Pereira has been unable to regularly conjure adequate form across 75 games for United and - prior to his spell with Flamengo last season - had mixed results from his previous loans at Granada, Valencia and Lazio.
Capped once by the Brazil national team, the 26-year-old was trusted by Solskjaer at the start of his tenure and his comments on the player last season hinted that Pereira might have a longer-term future at Old Trafford. It was, also, a verdict which shows newly-promoted Fulham what they will be getting from the playmaker.

Speaking about the player to TNT Sports last year, Solskjaer said: "Yes we follow Andreas, of course we do. He's a very good player, fantastic person. And I'm so happy for him that he's enjoying it over there. Because for us, it was the point... 'Andreas, you go and show how good you are'.
"I couldn't give him enough playing time and we know the quality in him. When he has the trust and belief, he's top quality, so I'm happy for him. Last year, Andreas went on loan, he didn't play enough. The season before, he played a lot for us, but then we signed Bruno [Fernandes]."
Solskjaer added: "I'm happy for him now and I'll see him soon. Of course [we want him to return], when he keeps on playing like he can do, at his best level, he's a top player."
