What movies and TV shows has Pieces of Her star Toni Collette been in?

A new show based on the best-selling novel by Karin Slaughter is coming to Netflix. 'Pieces of Her' answers the question laid out in the Netflix synopsis - "What if the person you thought you knew best turns out to be someone you never knew at all?"

The show centres around the relationship between a mother (Laura) and her daughter (Andy) that, at first, appears to be entirely normal. However, the synopsis goes on to tell us "all that changes when a trip to the mall explodes into violence and Andrea suddenly sees a completely different side to Laura. Because it turns out that before Laura was Laura, she was someone completely different."

The series features many renowned cast members, including Bella Heathcote as Andy and Joe Dempsie as Nick. However, legendary Australian actress Toni Collette has proved a favourite of many fans for her portrayal of the mysterious mother, Laura.

What movies and TV shows has Toni Collette been in?

Growing up in a suburb of Sydney, Toni Collette has worked consistently as an actor since dropping out of the National Institute of Dramatic Art to accept her first film role in 1992's Spotswood (alongside Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins).

Throughout the 90s, she had other roles in films like Muriel's Wedding, Emma, Clockwatchers, and Velvet Goldmine, culminating with her famous performance in The Sixth Sense in 1999 that earned her an Academy Award nomination.

Moving into the 2000s, she appeared in the likes of Shaft, Changing Lanes and The Hours, as well as starring alongside Hugh Grant in 2002's About A Boy. She also starred in Connie and Carla, In Her Shoes, Tsunami: The Aftermath and Little Miss Sunshine, earning more award nominations along the way.

Early into the next decade, she would appear in the horror film Fright Night and the Australian comedy Mental before going on to star in Hitchcock in 2012. The rest of the decade saw her star in several films, including Hereditary, another horror film that saw good reviews.

She has recently starred in the sci-fi film Stowaway and alongside Bradley Cooper in Guillermo del Toro's film Nightmare Alley in 2021.

Her appearances on TV include United States of Tara, Hostages and Wanderlust.
