What Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho has been doing during Premier League break

Alejandro Garnacho may not have got his dream call-up to the World Cup but that doesn't mean he isn't putting his free time to good use.

Many Manchester United fans were quick to point out that Argentina could have done with the direct and incisive forward when they were blunted by Saudi Arabia and suffered one of the great World Cup upsets. Garnacho was on the Argentina squad short-list and nearly earned a late call-up after Joaquin Correa pulled out due to injury but Thiago Almada got the call instead.

Garnacho joined the likes of Jadon Sancho and David de Gea in not making their national teams for the tournament. Those players not in Qatar were granted a short break away from Carrington last week by Erik ten Hag before United head to Spain for a winter training camp in early December.

The teenage star has got a head start on his teammates as he headed to Madrid last week and has been getting some training under his belt. Fitness coach Javier Ledesma posted a series of photos and a video with Garnacho at the ESC LALIGA&NBA Football Centre on the outskirts of the Spanish capital.

Ledesma also wrote the caption: "Thanks to @laliga for the facilities and for the treatment received @garnacho7."

The fact that Garnacho is continuing to train hard even when on a holiday is sure to earn him points with manager Ten Hag, who advised Sancho to train with recommended Dutch coaches in the Netherlands in order to keep fit and refocus during the break.

MEN Sport understands Sancho is working hard to improve his form and taking advice from Ten Hag. Sancho has been pictured training at Dutch amateur club OJC Rosmalen, doing close-control ball work around mannequins.

Garnacho has enjoyed a breakout start to the season and scored a great, late winner in United's last game before the break against Fulham.
