What makes Kapil Sibal’s resignation from Congress different from others

NEW DELHI: Dealing a severe blow to Congress, senior leader Kapil Sibal resigned from the party and on Wednesday filed nomination for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha election as an independent candidate from Uttar Pradesh. He is being backed by Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP).

Sibal said he resigned from Congress on May 16, a day after the party’s three-day ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’ concluded in Udaipur. With his resignation, Congress has perhaps suffered one of its greatest losses in the last couple of years, at least in 2022.
