Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill has revealed that the club has been in constant contact with the defender, seemingly reassuring that a place in the side could be available in the future. It comes as the 20-year-old gains experience while on loan with Premier League side Brighton.
Colwill has featured seven times in the Premier League so far this season, showing glimpses of his quality that he displayed with Huddersfield Town in the Championship last campaign. Being a left-footed centre-back that is comfortable on the ball is a rare trait that many sides are after too.
With his contract expiring in 2025, it comes as little shock that the defender may have some interest from other clubs when it comes to the transfer market. Rumours in recent weeks have linked rivals Liverpool as one of those sides eyeing a deal after the Blues made several expensive additions in defence in the last year.

With an emphasis on using youth as a foundation for the future, a place at Chelsea could still be up for grabs for Colwill, though. The loanee was asked about his steps with Chelsea in an interview with the Athletic in November, as well as the experience he has gained through his time at Brighton so far.
He said: "They [Chelsea] always keep in touch, tell me to keep working hard, good things come to those that wait. I’m gaining things here that I wouldn’t gain anywhere else, so I can’t complain."
It remains to be seen exactly how the next few months and years could pan out for Colwill and whether they will be with or away from Chelsea. However, it seems clear there is a big future ahead of him if he continues on the trajectory he has already been on through his short career so far.
