Jurgen Klopp was in good spirits as he reported back to the AXA Training centre for the first day of pre-season training on Saturday.
Liverpool ultimately endured a season to forget last year, failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2016 as they stumbled to a fifth-place finish, and suffered premature exits in Europe and both domestic cup competitions.
However, having finished the campaign with an 11-game unbeaten run, Kopites are optimistic heading into the new season. And such positivity has been aided by the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as part of a long-awaited midfield revamp.
And Klopp shared his delight to get to work ahead of the new season after reporting for duty early on Saturday morning.

“Good morning!” he beamed to Liverpool media staff as he arrived at the AXA Training centre, before kissing the camera as he walked past.
“Yes, brilliant,” he replied when asked if he was feeling refreshed and had had a good break. “Happy to be back!”
Klopp was often a forlorn figure when speaking publicly last season as Liverpool’s struggles ultimately left him frustrated and with the weight of the world on his shoulders. But the sight of the German in lighter spirits, feeling relaxed and full of positivity, will no doubt add to the optimism around Anfield heading into the new season as the Reds look to ensure their unwanted transitional campaign lasts just one year.
