Marathon approaches its first seasonal reset with Season 2: NIGHTFALL to offer a clean slate and equal footing at the start of the new season. This means everyone starts fresh, heading into NIGHTFALL and exploring new content, like Night Marsh.

Marathon Season 2 exact release date and time
Marathon Season 2 is coming out on June 2. The usual patch time for the game is from 7am to 10am CT, so the schedule for Season 2 is likely to be the same. However, because this is the game’s first seasonal update since launch, there could be delays and server issues in the early hours.

What to expect in Marathon Season 2
With Season 2 comes Marathon‘s first seasonal wipe. All gameplay progression resets: Player level, faction level, gear, and contract progression. You keep only your achievements, non-seasonal Codex progression, and cosmetics.
Ahead of the wipe, Bungie is increasing some of the rewards to make runs more exciting before it all goes away. This includes guaranteed map events (like Lockdown), guaranteed locked room keys from Wardens, increased Cryo Archive availability, and Cryo Archive: Ranked. To support your Cryo Archive runs, Bungie is giving out a Cryo Archive Sponsored Kit every day during this time.
In Season 2, UESC is increasing its security measures, and some of its renewed efforts will begin at the end of Season 1. Wardens now appear at new POIs on Perimeter, Dire Marsh, and Outpost. UESC has increased aerial activity on Perimeter. And a new threat appears on Dire Marsh.
Season 2 introduces Night Marsh, a night version of the Dire Marsh map, The Cradle system to customize Runner Shell‘s stats, a new Runner Shell, weapons, and more. Bungie also teased faster faction progression and more quality of life updates.
With Season 2, the first set of Ranked rewards will become available based on the highest rank achieved in Season 1. More details about the new content coming to Marathon in Season 2 will be revealed during the week of May 25.
