Expectant parents in Saline County, Missouri, have one week before their local hospital stops delivering babies. Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall will end inpatient labor and delivery services on Sept. 30, the hospital announced, according to ABC17 News. Its women's care clinic will stay open for prenatal and postpartum visits.
The hospital cited money. "The inpatient Labor and Delivery unit has experienced ongoing financial losses for several years," its announcement said, adding that continuing the service in its current form was not financially sustainable.
