Malaysia’s King Al-Sultan Abdullah is set to hold an audience with the two men vying to be the country’s new prime minister after neither of them secured enough support from legislators to form a new government.
In a statement on Tuesday, the palace said the king will meet opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin at 4:30pm (08:30GMT), and said that neither had obtained the majority support from the 222-member house as a deadline of 2pm (06:00GMT) passed.
