Chelsea prepare to welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie, with the Blues remaining intent on retaining their European title this season.
But Madrid are looking to regain theirs from 2018 after winning three in a row and head into this tie as favourites due to their dominant La Liga form this season, with Carlo Ancelotti ’s side on course for their 35th domestic title.
Thomas Tuchel ’s side suffered a shock 4-1 defeat at home to Brentford on Saturday ahead of this game, while Los Blancos saw off Celta Vigo 2-1 on the same day.

Team news
Following Saturday’s shock 4-1 defeat to Brentford, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Tuchel freshen things up in his side ahead of the visit of Madrid on Tuesday as the Blues aim to avoid a second consecutive defeat.
Christian Pulisic is expected to return after being left out on Saturday due to a late return from international duty, but Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) continues to struggle, while Ben Chilwell (knee) remains out for the season.
As for the visitors, they stand in good stead ahead of this game, with Ancelotti having just two players unavailable for the first leg and he could stick with the same side that overcame Celta Vigo on Saturday.
Eden Hazard will not have his Stamford Bridge reunion after undergoing a fibular plate operation, while striker Luka Jovic (ankle) could also miss out. Karim Benzema, who scored twice at the weekend, will hope to add to his hattrick against PSG in the previous round.
