Hours after an explosion struck Gaza City’s al-Ahli Arab Hospital on Tuesday, killing at least 500 people according to health authorities, United States President Joe Biden will land in Israel.
The hospital was housing thousands of patients and other civilians seeking shelter from the non-stop bombardment of the Gaza Strip by Israel since the October 7 attack by the Palestinian armed group Hamas on southern Israel. Palestinian officials have accused Israel of bombing the hospital. Israel, meanwhile, has claimed it has evidence that it was a rocket fired by Palestinian fighters that blew up the hospital.
