The Age the Texts Describe Is Not the One We Remember
Ask anyone what the Satya Yuga was, and you will hear some version of the same story: an age without suffering, without sin, without conflict. A golden time before things fell apart. This is not wrong, exactly, but it is incomplete in ways that matter. The Vishnu Purana, the Bhagavata Purana, and the Mahabharata's Shanti Parva do not describe an idealized version of the world we live in. They describe a world whose basic conditions were categorically unlike ours.
