West Lothian man, 31, hospitalised after attack on local footpath

West Lothian police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Livingston over the weekend.

A 31-year-old man was attacked by another male on Deans North Road around 3pm on Sunday, March 6.

The man was walking on a footpath behind a bus stop opposite Raeburn Rigg when he was approached by the aggressor.

The man suffered injuries to his head and body and was taken to St John's Hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as being around 5ft 7in in height, of stocky build, bald and clean shaven. He was wearing a light blue t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

It is believed the suspect was driving a black coloured people carrier.

Detective Constable Kenny Alexander said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or who saw anyone matching the description above to contact us.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to check dashcam footage and contact us if they believe they might be able to assist."
