West Lothian driver slapped with fine and car seized as police carry out crackdown

A number of West Lothian drivers were hit with fines while out on the road at the weekend as police cracked down on motorists.

Road Police in Scotland issued a warning on social media on Saturday after their Livingston team had come across a selection of vehicles that were committing offences.

Advising drivers to ensure their paperwork and cars were up to scratch, police said they had seized one vehicle at the side of the road after the driver had no MOT.

Pulling the car over on Edinburgh Road in Bathgate, a full inspection found the driver to have no MOT or excise license, no insurance and a flat tyre.

Taking the car in, the 32-year-old driver was also reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal.

"Both vehicles were seized and the drivers now face a £300 fine and 6 penalty points."
