West Ham United U21s captain Krisztián Hegyi has been called up to the Hungary senior squad for the first time.
Hegyi, who joined the Hammers in 2019 from Haladas, has featured 28 times for his country at youth level from the U16s up to the U21 squad.
Now, the 20-year-old will get his first taste of being involved with the senior side after he was named in Marco Rossi’s 25-man squad.

Qualification for the 2024 European Championships in Germany will kick-off at the end of March, with Hungary up against Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Lithuania in Group G.
Hungary will first play a friendly against Estonia on Thursday, March 23, before hosting Bulgaria in their opening Euro qualifying fixture on Sunday, March 27. Hegyi will be competing with Denes Dibusz of Ferencvaros and Zalaegerszegi TE stopper Patrik Demjen for a spot in the Hungary goal.
Hegyi, who was named skipper of the Hammers U21s last summer, has been a familiar name on David Moyes’ teamsheets this season. The young Hungarian has been included in the first-team matchday squad on ten occasions but is yet to make his West Ham debut.
Hegyi has intentions to head out on loan in the summer to take the next steps in his development by gaining first-team football experience.
