West Ham vs Freiburg: Europa League prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds

West Ham must put penalty controversy behind them as they look to turn come from behind against Freiburg in the Europa League later this week.

The Hammers were denied a late chance to level the first leg earlier this month but the referee refused to overturn his original decision after looking at the pitchside monitor following Michael Gregoritsch’s opener.

Tomas Soucek saw his attempt to keep the ball alive blocked by the Freiburg winger Noah Weisshaupt and VAR ordered a review.

Despite the resulting check lasting almost five minutes, match official Alejandro Hernandez did not change his initial decision.

David Moyes must now rely on his side to turn things around at home. Their European run has largely been a case of smooth sailing over the last twelve months but now the Scot wants his team to use the penalty drama as motivation.
