West Ham and Burnley on transfer alert for Championship ace as £20m price tag set

A £20million valuation has been set for Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres amid links with West Ham ahead of the summer transfer window.

That's according to The Sun, who claim that Coventry have placed a valuation on the Swedish striker that would smash the club record transfer fee of around £13million received when Inter Milan signed Robbie Keane from the Sky Blues back in 2000.

Gyokeres has impressed in the Championship, scoring a total of 40 goals in 105 appearances for the Sky Blues since joining from Brighton for an undisclosed fee in July 2021.

The 24-year-old striker, who has scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for Coventry so far this season, signed a three-year contract and is set to enter the final 12 months of his deal this summer.

Despite this, reports suggest that Coventry will still be looking for £20million to part ways with the striker this summer, with West Ham and Championship leaders Burnley among the potential suitors for him ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

It has been reported that Hammers boss David Moyes is a big fan of Gyokeres and that West Ham could make a move this summer, with Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio both struggling for goals in the Premier League this season.

The Hammers did sign Danny Ings in the January transfer window, but it is understood they could look to strengthen their attacking options again this summer.

But West Ham would not be the only club interested in signing Gyokeres, with Burnley failing in each of the last two windows to sign the Swedish striker. The Clarets could revive their interest in the summer, with Vincent Kompany's men well placed to seal promotion back to the top flight.
