West Dunbartonshire Council advertise for new chief executive - with £126k salary

West Dunbartonshire Council is looking for an “innovative, people oriented leader” to be their new chief executive, with a salary of up to £133,000 on offer for the right person.

Last month WDC chief executive Joyce White announced that she would be standing down from the role after a decade at the helm of the local authority, saying: “It has been a difficult decision to move on from a job, an organisation and an area I care so much about.”

And now West Dunbartonshire Council are now advertising for Ms White’s replacement, with a salary of between £126,447 and £133,334 offered and the option of working from home.

That top figure would result in an hourly wage of more than £73 when based on a 35 hour working week.

The job description reads: “It’s an exciting time at West Dunbartonshire Council and we’re looking for an inspirational and visionary leader to continue our journey of transformation.

“We are an ambitious council, with bold and exciting projects planned over the coming years which will continue to revitalise West Dunbartonshire and ensure it is the best place in Scotland to live, work, learn and visit.

“This is a pivotal role which offers an exciting opportunity to support the council’s ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life of West Dunbartonshire citizens through innovative and ambitious leadership of critical services.”

The description continues by outlining the ideal candidate.

It adds: “It’s important to us to find a new chief executive and head of paid service who is inspirational, dynamic, and ambitious.

“The ideal candidate will be influential and enthusiastic, ready to hit the ground running with ideas that will contribute towards our vision for the next stage in West Dunbartonshire’s evolution.

“Candidates must be passionate about people, embrace a value-based approach to leadership and have a proven track record of success within a complex, multi-agency and political environment.”

Applications are open until February 16, after which shortlisted candidates will be invited to a virtual assessment and interview.
