West Country venue transformed into trendy farm shop, restaurant and micro pub

An old country village pub has now been transformed into a thriving cool, trendy farm shop and restaurant that everyone is talking about. The venue is a 40-minute drive from Bristol city centre, making it the perfect location for a day trip.

Holcombe Farm Shop & Kitchen has amazing outdoor and indoor seating areas, 'fabulous' food and gifts and includes a micro pub, bar and restaurant, reports Somerset Live.

Between Monday to Wednesday, diners can feast on brunch, lunch and afternoon teas. While Thursday to Saturday the dreamy location also serves dinner.

Based in Edford Hill, Holcombe, a picturesque village between Radstock and Shepton Mallet, the cool, industrial decor at the venue is bang up to date, with rustic indoor and outdoor furniture, fabrics and interiors.

Developers described the old pub, the Duke of Cumberland, as "basic and unflattering" when applying for permission to make it what it is today. It is practically unrecognisable now as it has been turned into an amazing farm shop selling beautiful local produce as well as artisan gifts, a restaurant selling freshly roasted coffee and home make cakes and a nighttime bar and restaurant.

The restaurant is open from 9am for breakfast until late at night and The Duke micropub sells local beers and cider as well as a large selection of wines.

Nestled in the beautiful countryside the Holcombe Farm Shop & Kitchen really is something different, a re-modelled play area for children and lots of outdoor space for eating and drinking day and evening.

It is a great destination for a day out in the Somerset countryside and a chance to pick up some great meat, fish, fruit and veg as well as locally handmade gifts.

Diners on TripAdvisor raved about the service and food. One person said: "Fabulous experience from start to finish; we were greeted as we came in by a chap carrying plates, but who didn't use this as an excuse to ignore us, and instead welcomed us in and asked where we'd like to sit. Having decided on the deck, overlooking the pretty water, old stone bridge and ducks, he returned to us with menus, sat with us and went through gluten-free options with me. It turns out that they only use gf flour and vegan butter in the kitchen, to avoid cross-contamination, which was music to my ears."

Another wrote: "This is a stunningly renovated pub/farm shop in the Somerset countryside. Food and staff are amazing. I will definitely be back in summer, as the decking by the river looks lovely."
