Britain's best fish and chip shops have been unveiled and two are very close to Bristol. The Oyster Shell in Bath has been crowned one of the best venues for takeaways.
It was ranked in the top 50, along with Bredon Village Fish and Chip Shop, in Tewksbury by judges from Fry's Magazine. It's the second year running that the Bath restaurant has been honoured in the prestigious list.
And it's been a bumper year for the Oyster Shell after it was also shortlisted in the 2023 National Fish and Chip Awards. The eatery was set up by Dan Rosser in 2019 and has quickly become one of the top places in the West Country.

Bredon Village Fish and Chip Shop, which takes around 55 minutes to drive to from Bristol, has equally as impressive reviews. One diner wrote: "Big helpings, efficient staff, very welcoming, excellent service, and no smell of fish - which means the fish is truly fresh."
Another said: "Fabulously fresh white cod tonight. Nice thin and crispy batter too. Delicious. Thank you! Didn’t really need to order large as the regular was plenty."
