Scotland is blessed with hundreds of beautiful islands for visitors to enjoy, but there are some that are regularly considered the cream of the crop.
Now, Lonely Planet has named their eight top picks to visit in the country, with some major tourist spots missing out. While many Western Isles made it onto the list, two of the most popular locations for Glasgow day trips were missing - Arran and Bute.
Just two months ago, Arran was named one of top nine UK islands to visit by travel mag Suitcase. Still, there's no denying that the Lonely Planet selection - including Jura, Mull and Skye - are some of the most spectacular sights in Scotland.
