KOLKATA: Bengal government has decided to develop the water supply network across the urban areas of the state and also committed to cover 100% households with piped water supply by 2023.
In Kolkata, the state has given a nod to a Rs 122 crore water augmentation project at Jai Hind water treatment plant (Dhapa). KMC has invited a global tender for it. “We are hopeful of awarding the tender soon. The construction work will begin in April with a deadline to wrap up the project by early 2024,” the civic official said.Once completed, KMC will be able to supply potable water to residents in large stretches of Bypass. tnn
