Wendell Berry found life’s deepest lessons in the soil and turned them into poetry, prose and a call to care for nature

Wendell Berry spent his major part of life delving into the connection between farming and the world. The American farmer, novelist and poet offered strong emphasis on communities, and the environment through his writings. For over 40 years he had farmed in Port Royal, in his native Kentucky. Berry passed away on August 31, 2026.
