Mark Williams encountered an unfamiliar foe at the 2023 Alexandra Palace Masters when he came toe-to-toe with a wasp.
The Welshman was potting nicely before the buzzing fiend approached him, prompting an "Oi!" from Williams, which was met with a burst of laughter from the crowd.
As he chalked up his cue, referee Marcel Eckardt exclaimed "behind you!" as the wasp returned for a second attack. As the flying insect approached his crotch area, he batted it away and smiled as the crowd let our their laughter once more.

During the process of trying to avoid the wasp for more than two minutes, Williams kicked his legs, flailed his arms and jumped around the room in what seemed like a poorly choreographed dancing performance.
The unwelcome visitor then found its way to the cameraman, who smiled as the referee smacked his back with a towel, trying to end the disruption to the match. The wasp finally made its way from the action and Williams comically let out a sigh of relief before checking his seat as he got up - at this point the crowd were absolutely loving his reaction to the whole ordeal.
The commentary team couldn't quite believe what was happening.
"Mark's just won the Alexandra Pally dancing competition. It's a pantomime now!" said the main commentator.
"He's in a rather delicate position there! It's ridiculous what's happening, you'll end up having to play with those hats with corks on," said co-commentator John Parrott.
"The cameraman's trying to get it, and of course, a very important part of this frame and match, where this wasp is interfering."
"It's only a wasp," said the main commentator.
"What are we watching here?! I think someone needs to invest in a can of something and they can spray it," suggested Parrott.
"They don't get this at the darts, do they?" said snooker icon Steve Davis.
"Might be some feat of concentration after what's gone on there!" concluded Parrott.
