'Well up for it' - Ipswich Town attacker's Bolton Wanderers verdict ahead of League One opener

Ipswich Town's Sone Aluko believes the Tractor Boys are 'very happy' with how their pre-season preparations have gone and believes the clash against 'good team' Bolton Wanderers is one they usually play well in.

Wanderers travel to Portman Road to take on the Tractor Boys for the curtain raiser of the League One new season this Saturday. Bolton will be aiming to begin the season in positive fashion.

The Whites did the double over Ipswich last season in League One. A 5-2 victory at Portman Road was followed up with a 2-0 success at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The Tractor Boys finished off their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win at Portman Road over Southend United last night. Goals from Tyreece John-Jules, Greg Leigh and Freddie Ladapo ensured victory.

The 33-year-old Aluko is pleased with how Ipswich have performed in their preparations for the new campaign. And he is expecting a full house at Portman Road the League One opener against Wanderers, who he expects will be a good team but believes his side have the capabilities to perform well against.

Aluko told iFollow Ipswich: "All in all, though, we’re very happy with how pre-season has gone. We have a team that is pretty much fully fit. We’ve scored goals, we’ve looked sharp and we’ve looked fit. I’m really happy with how our pre-season has gone and how my performances have been during it.

"We’ve prepared ourselves really well. Saturday’s game will be one of those where there is a full house here and it’s against a good team, so it’s the type of game we usually play well in.

"We’re well up for it. As much as pre-season is good for working on some things, it’s not the same as competitive games, so we’re looking forward to getting the season going."

Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna added: "It's been a pre-season of good lessons and tonight was also a good night. There were no injuries on the night and we're looking forward to Saturday."
