Welcome to paradise – Marshall's first artist signature amp in 14 years, created with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong

Marshall amp.

Marshall amplifiers are some of the best in the business, used by some of the biggest names in pop, rock and punk. Green Day's frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, used a 1959 100W Plexi amp head to create the distinctive tone that brought them so many hits.

To celebrate, Marshall has created a signature version of this amp head with a "Dookie Mod" finished in baby blue, in tribute to Billie's first guitar, Blue. It was actually teased during Green Day's 2026 Super Bowl performance, as it was used on stage, but it's now finally official.

Unlike the latest range of Marshall Bluetooth speakers, this model is designed exclusively for guitar use. The custom amp features increased gain and tighter lows to deliver that punchy punk sound that Green Day is known for.

Quick Summary

Marshall has launched a new Artist Signature version of its Pexi amplifier head, the first in 14 years. The head was created with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and has a 'Dookie mod' to recreate the sound of Billie's own custom amp, and is finished in baby blue – the same colour as his original guitar, Blue.

This is the first time Marshall has released an artist signature amp in 14 years, and so it's a big deal for Marshall fans. The 1959BJA model is based on the handwired 1959HW amp and is made in the UK. Sold as just the amplifier head, it can be paired with any of Marshall's speaker cabinets.

However, pictures suggest that there will be a matching baby-blue model for those who want to coordinate. The 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature amp head goes on sale on 21 July 2026 on the Marshall website and at major retailers, priced £3,099.99 / $3,999.99 / €3,699.
