French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed British Prime Minister Andy Burnham's reopening of the debate over the United Kingdom's relationship with the European Union, responding to the possibility of the UK eventually rejoining the bloc with a simple message in English: “Welcome back.”
“If the British want to come back and if the prime minister is moving in that direction, I think that is very good news both for his country and for Europeans,” Macron told a news conference in Madrid on Wednesday, adding: “Come back."
