Weight loss expert Michael Mosley shares six foods to avoid on holiday

Summer is now firmly here and many of us will be counting down the days to a trip away somewhere.

Holidays are there to be enjoyed, but the disruption to your regular routine could impact your health goals. Diet expert Michael Mosley has now shared his best tricks and tips to avoid this, especially if you are on a weight loss journey.

For whatever reason you have to take off, travelling can often put your healthy lifestyle on hold, or can be the reason you don't start it. But the health guru has reminded people that they can stick to their meal plans while relaxing on holiday.

Best known for creating the popular Fast 800 diet, Dr Mosley believes it's not just about what you eat, but when you do it, the Daily Record reports.

TRE, or time-restricted eating, involves fasting for 12 hours during every 24 hour period. Dr Mosley claims this shorter period of eating will give cells enough time to repair, as well as providing you with higher energy levels and a better mood.

You can still incorporate TRE into your day while travelling, by having a late breakfast. If your holiday package includes breakfast, see what the latest available time to eat is.

Dr Mosley also recommends you avoid six foods at breakfast, while recommending a number of alternatives. He suggests eating eggs as well as Greek yogurt, vegetables, cheese, nuts, and avocado.

On the other hand, people should steer clear of fruit juices, pastries, cereals, muffins, dried fruit, and hash browns.

The weight loss expert also recommends watching your alcohol intake as people are often unaware of how many calories they are consuming through beer, wine and mixers. Regularly drinking water between beverages will help you to drink less, too.
