With Easter Sunday just around the corner, supermarkets are working overtime stocking their shelves with chocolate eggs.
And while there’s nothing like unwrapping a giant egg, sometimes it's nice to dig into a mini egg or two... or 10.
Whether you like white, milk or dark chocolate, a hard candy shell or something a little more rich and luxurious, there’s something for you.
But with so many on the market, it can be hard to know which brand to turn to.
So I decided to put some of the biggest brands to the test to help you decide which to stock up on.
I picked up nine packs of mini eggs - Cadbury's Mini Eggs, Terry's Chocolate Orange mini eggs, Galaxy Enchanted Eggs as well as the Orange Truffle version, Smarties Mini Eggs, Kit Kat Mini Eggs, Aldi's Dairyfine Chocolate Eggs, Milkybar Mini eggs and last but not least, Lindt Lindor eggs.
I then compared them against their taste and price, before giving them a rating out of five - and this is what I found...

Milkybar Mini Eggs
We're starting off on a high with the Milkybar Mini Eggs.
These white chocolate eggs were creamy, had a good amount of crunch and I have to admit, very addictive (I may or may not have had three in a row).
Although I'm a big fan of white chocolate, I was worried these could be too creamy like the Milkybar itself, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The 80g bag cost £1 and bagged a solid 4/5 rating.
Lindt Lindor eggs
Following suit with an equally high score was the "irresistibly Smooth" Lindor chocolate mini eggs - and that they were.
The soft truffle centre melted in my mouth, just like the original chocolate Lindor balls, but they're not as gooey and sickly, which I liked.
The 80g bag was the most expensive out of the lot at £2 but they were delicious and earned a 4/5 rating.
Galaxy Enchanted Eggs
Despite being the prettiest of them all, the Galaxy Enchanted Eggs lacked flavour and were slightly disappointing.
These eggs had a nice crunch and did vaguely taste like a classic bar of Galaxy chocolate but I had no idea they had caramel in them until I checked the packet.
Overall they're nothing to write home about - sorry Galaxy.
Because of that, this 80g cost £1 and deserves a rating of 2.5/5.
Smarties Mini Eggs
These Smarties Mini Eggs tasted exactly as I expected - like Smarties.
I didn't really have any complaints with these - they were tasty, had a nice candy-coated shell and I loved the bright colours, but I'm not sure I'd buy them again.
They had a slightly nutty taste which I'm not so keen on, so I'd probably be inclined to just buy a tube of Smarties instead.
This 80g bag cost £1 and got a rating of 3.5/5.
Galaxy Orange Creamy Truffle Mini Eggs
These Galaxy chocolate orange truffles claim to be mini eggs, but they were much bigger than the others - something I wasn't too keen on.
The centre was soft like a Lindor egg and quite rich - maybe too rich - but there was a subtle hint of orange that cut through the creaminess that I really appreciated.
And while it didn't really taste like Galaxy chocolate, it was nice.
This 80g bag cost £1.50, slightly more than some of the other eggs, and received a 3.5/ rating.
Terrys White Chocolate Orange Mini Eggs
The Terry's White Chocolate Orange Mini Eggs didn't go down well with me.
I couldn't really taste the white chocolate or any flavour at all really - especially not the real orange oil they claim to contain.
Although I liked the crunch of the shell and you get the most eggs for your buck, that's where the compliments end as they tasted the most artificial out of the bunch.
This 140g bag cost £1.50 and was given a score of 2/5.
Aldi's Dairyfine Mini Chocolate Eggs
I had high hopes for Aldi's Dairyfine Mini eggs but I was sadly let down.
They were the cheapest of the lot at 85p for an 80g bag, but being only 15p cheaper I didn't expect the taste to differ as much as it did.
Unfortunately, the candy shell was the reason this was given a low score. It was the toughest to crack but disintegrated as I bit into it, and you could barely taste any chocolate because of how powdery the exterior tasted.
So these received a 2/5 rating.
Kit Kat
I quite liked the Kit Kat mini eggs, but I think I expected more from them.
They had a slight truffly centre which was nice, but in my opinion maybe a little too dense - not light and airy like the Galaxy ones.
There were little pieces of wafer flecked throughout to replicate that of a KitKat chocolate bar but I think it needed a little bit more.
This 80g bag cost £1 and deserves a rating of 3/5.
Cadbury's Mini eggs
Unsurprisingly, Cadbury's Mini Eggs were delicious and proved the originals are the best.
The pastel milk chocolate eggs are encased in a thin coating of hard candy shell, which, like some of the other eggs, doesn't have a powdery taste.
They're sweet but not overpowering, not too sickly and the crunch is just right. This is exactly what I want out of a mini egg.
This 80g bag of £1 eggs, earned a 4.5/5.

Verdict
After eating far too many mini eggs, it's safe to say there was a clear winner - Cadbury's - and I hate to say I'm not surprised.
The Milkybar Mini Eggs bagged a well-deserved second place and unfortunately, Aldi's and Terry's White Chocolate Orange Mini Eggs came in joint last place.
