We simulated Borrusia Dortmund vs Man City to get a Champions League score prediction

A draw against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday can secure top spot for Man City in their UEFA Champions League group.

City currently sit on 10 points and at the top of Group G after their opening four Champions League games, with their 0-0 draw in their last Champions League outing confirming their place in the Round of 16. If Pep Guardiola's side can pick up a point against Dortmund on Tuesday, City will be guaranteed to finish top in their group.

The reverse fixture saw City win 2-1 against the German side, with Erling Haaland's late winner at the Etihad confirming the win. The Norwegian scored twice in City's 3-1 win over Brighton heading into the clash against his former side, taking his goal tally for the season to 22.

Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips will both be absent for City, whilst Sergio Gomez is suspended following his red card against FC Copenhagen So, could City confirm first place in Group G on Tuesday? We simulated the game to find out.

We simulated Borussia Dortmund vs Man City to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Kober; Sule, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Guerriero; Bellingham, Can; Adeyemi, Brandt, Reyna; Moukoko.

We predict that City could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Ake, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, Haaland, Foden.

Man City started the game on top, and they took the lead just six minutes in through Riyad Mahrez.

Phil Foden cut in from the left and let fire from range, forcing Gregor Kobel into making the save. At full stretch, the 'keeper could only push the ball wide of goal but into the path of Mahrez, and the Algerian winger made no mistake when firing his half-volley into the empty net.

City were controlling the game, and the task was made easier for the visitors when Giovanni Reyna was giving his marching orders for a late challenge on Kevin De Bruyne. City entered the break with the lead, and they doubled it just three minutes after the restart through Haaland.

De Bruyne's corner was fizzed into the centre of the box towards Haaland, and despite the Norwegian surrounded by black and yellow, the striker leaped highest to meet the cross. His header was powerful and directed back across goal - nestling into the bottom corner.

With a healthy lead and the hosts down to 10 men, it looked unlikely that anything except a City win would come from the game. And, with 15 minutes remaining, Ilkay Gundogan netted City's third to all but confirm three points.

Joao Cancelo's cross into the box was originally miscontrolled by Haaland at the back post, sending the ball behind the striker and away from goal. Haaland was quick to react though, recollecting the ball and sliding a pass through to Gundogan.

The German broke through on goal and found the top corner to make it 3-0 against his former side. A counter-attack in the final moments of the game saw Haaland tap into an empty net from Bernardo Silva's low cross to make it 4-0 at the death, topping off a fantastic evening for the visitors.

FIFA 23 predicted final score: Borussia Dortmund 0-4 Man City

Here are the full-time match stats.

FT stats from City's 4-0 win over Dortmund on FIFA 23 (EA SPORTS FIFA)

FIFA 23 predicts that City could ease to a win in Germany, with Haaland scoring twice as Guardiola's side won 4-0. An early red card tipped the game into City's favour, though their dominance before the hosts were reduced to 10 men showed that they could've produced a similar display against a full XI.
