'We're doomed' - Leeds United fans concerned after fresh Patrick Bamford update

Leeds United fans have expressed their concern after Marcelo Bielsa revealed that there's been no improvement to Patrick Bamford's foot injury.

The England international picked up a fresh issue before the Whites' Premier League trip to West Ham United last month, days after fully recovering from a hamstring problem.

There was some optimism that Bamford could return for Leeds' game against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, however, Bielsa has revealed that he won't be available.

This means that the 28-year-old has played just once since mid-September - a 30-minute cameo in the 2-2 draw with Brentford in December where he scored the eventual equaliser.

It has been a frustrating season for Bamford so far and some Leeds supporters are worried that they might not see the former Middlesbrough forward again between now and the final day of the campaign.

Here is what some had to say on social media.

@lufcThommo: Very concerning re Bamford. Feels like his season could be over. One thing after another at the moment! Geldhart up front please! #lufc

@SalCal91: Shades of Forshaw circa 2019 with Bamford. Hope I'm wrong but at this rate he won't play more than a handful of games this season which makes the decision not to bring in a backup striker baffling

@OntheBielsaBus: We'll not see Bamford again this season. He's having what is known at Leeds as a Forshaw.

@Daf93456126Shon: We're doomed. The sad thing is, we all could see it when no signings were brought in

@kevingaff: So Bamford basically gone for season so. Pretty much as expected

@VincentsVein: That is a BIG worry with regards to Bamford. I’ve always been overly optimistic of us avoiding the drop but that was slightly weighted on Bamford returning at some stage. That’s him for the season I reckon.

@sideb4self: Sign a striker, oh wait… Not good news for Bamford. Looking like he’ll miss most of the season at this rate. Feels a bit like his first season when he joined.

@bielsaball28: Don't think we'll see Bam Bam again this season if I'm honest #lufc

@JoshPitts11: Bamford might aswell just sit out rest of the season of just the year in general

Meanwhile, Bielsa has confirmed that Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips are in the "final stages" of their recoveries and could be back for the game against Manchester United on February 19.

Junior Firpo will also miss the trip to Villa, but is very close to making a comeback and could feature at Everton on the weekend.
