Taipei: US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday said that she came to Taiwan as she seeks "peace for the region" after her visit irked China and started its diplomatic games.

"We come in friendship to Taiwan, we come in peace for the region," Pelosi said during the meeting with Tsai Chi-chang, the deputy speaker of Taiwan's parliament.
