Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has been given a warning by the FA after admitting he went into a match against Chelsea 16 years ago wanting to “try and hurt someone”.

Rooney, who now manages Championship side Derby, revealed in a new Amazon documentary that he wore different studs for a crucial Premier League meeting with the Blues in 2006, during which he made a challenge on John Terry which left his England teammate injured.
