BBC's secondary school drama Waterloo Road will make its long-awaited return to screens on Tuesday, January 3. The series, which last aired in 2015, was recommissioned last year and sees both new cast members joining and old favourites returning - One of which is Angela Griffin, who plays Kim Campbell.
Angela previously appeared in Waterloo Road between 2006-2010 and her character Kim was head of pastoral care. In the new series, Kim has become headmistress of the school.
Angela's role in Waterloo Road wouldn't be the first time that she has acted in a continuing drama. In the nineties, she played Fiona Middleton in ITV soap-opera Coronation Street, and she was also an original cast member of BBC medical drama Holby City.

During the nineties, Angela was in a relationship with Strictly Come Dancing star Will Mellor. The pair split in 1999 and following their break-up, she has said that she wouldn't date actors again. Speaking to The Mirror in 2001, Angela said: "I'm steering clear," when discussing a future relationship with a thespian.
At the time, Angela also quashed rumours that Will was on the cusp of proposing before their split. She said: "That's rubbish. It made me really angry when I heard what he had said in that magazine interview." Discussing how time has healed the breakdown of their relationship, she added: "We're still good mates, though. Is that grown-up of me? Or more like manipulative moves - 'We're just friends, but look what you could have had!"
Despite her resistance, Angela would go on to marry another actor, Jason Milligan in 2006. Jason is the brother of Mad Dogs star Max Beesley. Discussing how the pair met with The Guardian, Angela said: "My friend went on a date with Jason’s brother Max Beesley; she didn’t want to go on her own, and Max brought Jason with him. Nothing happened that night – we were both in relationships. Then, about six years later, we met on a night out, and nine months later I was pregnant." The couple now have two children together.
Catch Angela on Waterloo Road on BBC One at 8pm on Tuesday, January 3. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
