Although Ohio State signee Scotty Middleton’s Sunrise Christian Academy was viewed as heavy underdogs against top ranked Monteverde Academy, it didn’t seem like it as the game went on.
Sunrise rose to the challenge and knocked off Montverde to advance to the semifinal round of the Geico Nationals Tournament. It wasn’t without drama, especially for Middleton.
With his team down two points with a little over 30 seconds remaining, they stole the ball and on a fast break, Middleton spotted up for three. His teammate found him open and the future Buckeye sank the game winning three pointer with about 24 seconds left in the game.
It was an epic moment for Middleton, beating the number one team in the country and getting one step closer to playing for a championship. Check out his game winning show below along with an interview breaking down his shot.
