It is official. The Seattle Seahawks have named former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald to be their new head coach. Macdonald will now become the ninth head coach in Seahawks franchise history. He has large shoes to fill, following the legendary Pete Carroll and his 14 years in Seattle. But 12’s across the Pacific Northwest are excited, and those within the organization are as well.
Macdonald is in Renton, and was greeted at the Seahawks’ headquarters – the Virginia Mason Athletic Center – rather warmly.

“Here to stay” is the key part of the above tweet. The Seahawks have given Macdonald a six-year contract, which suggests the organization is more than willing to give him the time he needs in order to build something special in Seattle.
