The New York Giants traded up in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft to grab Tennessee wideout Jalin Hyatt with the 73rd overall pick on Friday night in Kansas City.
Hyatt was projected to be a first-round selection by many draft analysts and fell into the third round for unknown reasons. That’s when Giants general manager Joe Schoen adroitly swept in and nabbed the true home run hitter.
In 2022 Hyatt led the nation in 40-plus yard receptions (11), 50-plus yard catches (7) and 60-plus yard catches (5). His 11 40-plus yard catches were better than eight SEC teams’ entire total for the season. He had five 100-yard receiving games on the year, which led the SEC and tied for sixth in UT single-season history.
Here’s how that played out in real-time.

Hyatt has some work to do developing his game at the NFL level but his boom potential is through the roof.
