The Kansas City Chiefs took a second-quarter lead over the Los Angeles Chargers when reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes found veteran receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a long touchdown.
The play came after the Chargers scored a field goal on their second offensive drive, tying the game just before the end of the first frame.
Mahomes marched Kansas City’s offense downfield to take the four-point lead and hit Valdes-Scantling with a beautiful pass that left plenty of room to run after the catch.

Plays like this are what Mahomes needed to get back on track after his pedestrian start to the 2023 season. He hasn’t been able to rely on Valdes-Scantling as a deep threat through the Chiefs’ first six games, so these kinds of efforts are a good sign for the duo heading into the meat of Kansas City’s schedule.
Stay tuned to see if Mahomes finds Valdes-Scantling again later in the game.
