Warriors land Wake Forest’s Jake LaRavia in final Rookie Wire mock draft

With confetti still in the air from the championship parade, the Golden State Warriors will quickly have to turn all of their attention to the 2022 edition of the NBA Draft.

On Thursday, the Warriors will go on the clock with the No. 28 overall pick in the NBA Draft. After sitting near the top of the draft for the past two seasons, the Warriors will return to the back end of the big board for 2022.

With draft day looming, Rookie Wire released their final mock draft. When it came to the Warriors at No. 28, Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire linked Wake Forest’s Jake LaRavia to the Bay Area. According to Taylor, LaRavia has an offensive skill set that could translate to the NBA level.

Via USA TODAY SMG Rookie Wire:

LaRavia has rapidly shot up draft boards after a strong showing at the combine and in private workouts. He has a wide array of offensive skills that should translate well to the NBA, and he could benefit by playing for a contender. Fresh off winning the title, the Warriors don’t have many holes on the roster, but LaRavia projects to fit in well there.

After spending his first two seasons at Indiana State, LaRavia played his final season of college hoops with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. During the 2021-22 campaign, the 6-foot-9 wing averaged 14.6 points on 55.9% shooting from the field and 38.4% from beyond the arc. LaRavia added 6.6 boards and 3.7 assists per game.

In a victory over the North Carolina Tarheels, LaRavia went off for a career-high 31 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field with 10 boards, four assists and three steals in 37 minutes.

The NBA Draft is set to start at 4:30 p.m. PT on Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
