A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon on one count of aggravated menacing.
The news was first reported by Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner and confirmed by Local 12’s Chris Renkel.
According to Renkel, the warrant alleges Mixon pointed a gun at a woman in downtown Cincinnati on January 21.
Mixon, 26, just completed his sixth season with the Bengals after joining the team via the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. He has two more years left on his current contract and expressed interest in staying with the team, but a diminishing role and the team being able to save roughly $10 million by cutting him was already a point of fan speculation in regards to his future with the team.
The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. provided further context:
Affidavit alleges Joe Mixon pointed a gun at the victim stating, “You should be popped in the face, I should shoot you.”
