Passengers heading to Italy will face more travel chaos on top of the ongoing disruption at major UK airports. Airlines including easyJet, Ryanair and British Airways have all cancelled dozens of flights to the country on Wednesday (June 8) due to a strike by Italian aviation workers.
Flights to Bologna, Milan, Naples, Rome and Venice were among the 20 services cancelled by EasyJet from Gatwick. The airline told passengers: “Although this is outside of our control, we would like to reassure customers that we are doing all possible to minimise any disruption that may occur as a result of the strike action.”
British Airways axed around 14 flights from London to Milan while Ryanair scrapped several flights between Italy and Stansted. A Ryanair spokesman said: “Due to air traffic control (ATC) strikes at Milan Bergamo, Milan Malpensa, Turin, Verona, Genoa, Cuneo and Parma airports, we have regrettably been forced to cancel a number of flights on Wednesday.
