A wanted man allegedly ran a red light before crashing into another car while trying to evade police.
ACT Policing said officers spotted the 20-year-old driving a Holden Commodore through Belconnen about 12.50pm on Wednesday, June 24.
At the time, he was wanted on an arrest warrant over alleged robbery and burglary offences.
Police continued to follow the car while other officers prepared road spikes at the intersection of Kuringa Drive and the Barton Highway.
In a bid to evade police, the man allegedly ran a red light at the intersection before crashing into a Mercedes sedan.
The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot but was arrested after a short chase.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 25, charged with driving without due care, learner driver unaccompanied, and using an unregistered vehicle.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the alleged crash, or of the white Holden Commodore bearing NSW registration FDJ98V in the Belconnen area, to come forward.
