Remote workers can once again avail of free vouchers to use in their local digital hub over the coming months as phase two of the Connected Hubs Voucher Scheme is launched.
More than 3,000 vouchers were used during the first phase of this scheme, which is supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The second phase of the Connected Hubs Voucher Scheme was launched today by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD.
Speaking at the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois, Minister Humphreys said it was “fantastic” to hear the “really excellent” feedback following the first phase.
She said: “This is all about giving people the opportunity to achieve a much better work-life balance through the benefits of their local digital hub.
“Under Phase 2, any user of ‘Connected Hubs’ can receive three free vouchers at any stage until the end the year.
“Hubs have the potential to make a significant impact on rural communities and our regional towns.”
The first phase of the Connected Hubs scheme was launched at the start of the summer, and was described by Minister Humphreys as representing “the next chapter in our remote working journey”.
Over 3,000 people opted in to receive the vouchers, allowing them to work from at digital hubs around Ireland.
The current phase of the scheme runs from today, September 21 and December 31. Minister Humphreys said: “This scheme will run to the end of December so I hope that some of our returning diaspora may consider extending their trips home for Christmas and look at working remotely in a local hub with a strong, reliable broadband connection.”
The Connected Hubs Voucher Scheme is available to any person registered via ConnectHubs.ie.
