Von Miller backs Broncos QB Russell Wilson to bounce back in 2023

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson had the worst season of his career in 2022, but he showed signs of promise in the team’s final two games of the season after former coach Nathaniel Hackett was fired.

Now, following the arrival of new coach Sean Payton, there’s more optimism in Broncos Country that Wilson could get back on track in 2023.

Speaking at Super Bowl media week, former Broncos pass rusher Von Miller made it clear that he believes Wilson will bounce back this fall.

“I’ll always be a Denver Broncos fan,” Miller told KOA Radio’s Brandon Krisztal. “I’ll always be a Denver Broncos fan, it’s in my blood. I think that Russell Wilson is the right direction [for the team]. I think whenever they traded for Russell Wilson, it was the perfect thing to do.

“Russell Wilson, he struggled this year, and I’m sure he’d say the same thing. But for me, and what I know about Russell Wilson, that’s an anomaly — it’ll never happen again. … I just firmly believe in Russ and the type of person that he is that he’ll be able to bounce back and have a successful rest of his career.”

Miller now plays for the Buffalo Bills, who are among Denver’s 2023 opponents. Despite being two teams removed from the Broncos, Miller has said multiple times that he still has love for Denver, and if the Bills do not win the next Super Bowl, Miller hopes the Broncos will.
