The autocratic Russian leader is likely to continue his extremist ways until the bitter end of his reign - or unless his mind succumbs to "dementia extra fast".
Experts have suggested the current Putin era could even be described as "Mid-Putin" - as the next eight years could be marred by his plans to destroy the "substance of Russia ".
