Cinnamon Kitchen City, Vivek Singh’s much-loved Liverpool Street Indian restaurant, is due to celebrate its 15th birthday this October. The chef will be marking the occasion with a special four-course collaboration dinner in partnership with some of London’s most exciting chefs.
The aptly named Spice in the City sees Singh joined in the kitchen by Will Bowlby, founder of the successful Indian restaurant group Kricket, alongside Adriana Cavita of her eponymous Mexican restaurant Cavita .
The evening itself is set to begin with a series of Indian inspired canapes, before a newly-created four-course dinner, with the menu calling on each of the chefs to showcase their love of spice.
Bowlby is due to kick off the meal with his take on the brief: a ghee roasted crab, with Cavita’s chutoro tostada with ginger soy vinaigrette on offer too.
The menu continues courtesy chef Gavin Malleappah’s black pork belly curry. Malleappah currently serves as head chef of the newly opened Rambutan in Borough Market and previously worked for Singh at his flagship restaurant Cinnamon Club in Victoria.
Chettinad spiced lamb chops and Nilgiri korma keema are Raju Ramachandran’s contribution to the spice-led dinner; Ramachandran himself a protégé of Singh having worked for him since 2004.
The evening marks a celebratory milestone amid turbulent times for restaurants, showing the enduring appeal of fantastic Indian food cooked by chefs with passion. The author of multiple cookbooks and a regular face on television, Vivek Singh is one of the most prominent Indian chefs in the UK, with four successful London restaurants in his stable.
Tickets are priced at £95 per person for canapés, a welcome glass of wine and four courses.
