FAQs

Does Visible offer coverage in my area?

Thanks to its nature as an MVNO on the Verizon network, Visible offers coverage to 70% of the USA, meaning its more than likely that your area will be covered. If you want to be sure before you join or to see a breakdown of which signal types are offered where you live, you can enter your zip code into the brand's coverage checker through the website.

Can I bring my own phone to Visible?

Of course! If you've already got your own handset and want to switch over to the network, you'll need to check your device is compatible with the carrier before getting started. Visit the dedicated Bring Your Own Phone page to check, then provide your phone's IMEI number if it is to see the selection of contract-free Unlimited plans Visible can offer. From here, the brand can provide guidance on the choice of SIM (physical or eSIM), activating your new SIM, and how to transfer your old number if you want to.

How does the Visible upgrade program work?

If you've already got a contract with Visible and you're looking to save on a new device, you can make the most of the brand's upgrade program to get your hands on newer models before your current contract ends. Visible lets customers upgrade to new handsets once they've paid off 50% of their contract, and will even email them to notify them once they've reached this point. Keep your eyes peeled for this email for a list of currently available options, then once you've chosen a new model, send off your old phone and the network will pay off the remainder of the cost so you can start fresh.

What is Visible Payback?

If you want to switch to Visible, but your device isn't currently eligible - for example, if your device isn't technically eligible because its too old, or if Visible can't recognise your IMEI - you can get a discount on an affordable phone and plan through Visible Payback.

Once you find out your device isn't compatible with the carrier, you can pick a handset (usually $200 or under) and then bring your number over onto a selected plan. Once the plan begins, you'll get monthly credit deductions off your bill to keep it affordable for your first 12 months.

Does Visible offer a free trial?

Yep! Visible Wireless offers a 15-day no-fuss free trial, which you can use to check out this carrier before you commit. While there are no pesky contracts to sign with Visible Wireless (it's fully prepaid), it's still a great idea to consider the free trial as it's an effective way to check coverage and service speeds in your local area.

To try out Visible Wireless, simply navigate to their website's free trial page and initiate the sign-up procedure. Note that this free trial is offered via eSIM so some older devices may not be compatible. Your device will also need to be fully unlocked.

What's the Visible return policy?

Should you change your mind about a phone you've bought from Visible, you can return it up to 14 days after your date of purchase. Get in touch with the brand and they'll provide a prepaid shipping label to cover return costs, then factory reset your device before sending it off, and you should get a full refund once the brand confirms your device is still in good condition.

Visible Saving tips

Shop the holidays

Visible offers significant savings around the holidays, with its biggest discounts usually appearing for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and New Year's, as well as other major events like Labor Day or the start of spring or summer. Although these are generally aimed at new customers switching from other networks, we've seen these sales bring discounts of up to 50% off selected annual plans.

Here at TechRadar, we watch what Visible has to offer closely, adding any and all new deals we find to this page as they appear. If you're hoping to snap up a price drop for the holidays, make sure to check back here when they roll around to see the best offers we've found on the network's plans and devices.

Only pay for what you need

This one may sound obvious, but the golden rule with any prepaid carrier is to make sure you're not paying for more than you need. For example, the Visible Plus plan (which costs $35 a month) is absolutely fantastic if you're a power user who really needs that priority data, but most users will find the basic plan (which comes in at $25 a month) more than enough for their needs. While it's subject to slower speeds when the local area is busy, it's a whopping $10 cheaper, and it's still completely unlimited.

Trade in old devices

If you're swapping out an old device for a new one, whether it's through the Visible upgrade program or just a new purchase, you can hand over your old mobile for money off your new model thanks to the network's trade-in service. Just provide some details on your model and its condition to see if its eligible for trade-in and get a quote.

We've seen quotes offer up to $600 for selected devices (or as a Mastercard gift card if you decide to buy on finance), with newer models in good condition earning more money (especially from big-hitters like Apple, Samsung and Google). If you're happy with the amount offered, accept the quote and the brand will provide a prepaid shipping label to cover costs. Your payment will be processed once your device has been received and its condition confirmed.

Bring a friend

Know someone who'd like Visible? You can refer them to the carrier to net them a one-time $20 service credit which can be redeemed against their bill, and you'll receive the same as thanks. You can refer as many friends as you like and hold up to 12 service credits at any one time, with a limit of $240 of referral savings each year. What's more, the carrier also runs occasional limited-time offers, giving members the chance to earn bonuses such as gift cards, home devices and more.

Stack 'Em

You can also earn extra rewards by connecting with other Visible customers through the network's Stack 'Em program. Each member can build their own Inner Circle of up to 6 other customers. Once your inner circle has 2 or more members, each of you will save $5 a month on Visible+ or Visible+ Pro plans for a total of $60 off annually. This can also be stacked with the rewards bonuses for a total of $300 of savings each year, so share to love for the best value on your plan.

Gift a plan

Feeling generous? You can also gift selected Visible plans to someone you know to net a discount on the usual price. This offer lets you purchase a year's worth of Visible, Visible+ or Visible+ Pro for your friend or family member for between $25 and $90 off depending on the tier, making for a great way to set someone you know up for less if they've already decided the network is right for them.

How we source coupon codes

Whether it's through our affiliate networks, the depths of the world wide web, or our connections with big name brands, here at TechRadar we use every tool at our disposal to source the latest codes. Our coupons team updates each of our pages multiple times a week with the most recent deals, including exclusive coupons negotiated by our Commercial team. We also include the latest sales info directly from retailers to offer the most up-to-date discounts around.

How we test coupon codes

Each coupon you find on TechRadar has been tested before being uploaded by our dedicated Deals & Offers teams. You’ll see a range of offers, from free shipping to student discounts, with savings available on all kinds of products & services. To make sure every coupon is ready to use, we don’t list any user-specific or one-time codes.

We also include all relevant information about coupons, such as expiry dates and any terms & conditions, near the ‘Get Code’ button. You can see the details for an individual offer by clicking on the ‘Terms & Conditions’ text below the code and expanding the code area.

What to do if a coupon code doesn’t work

Although we do our best to ensure all listed codes are tried & tested, sometimes coupons expire or terms & conditions are changed before we can update pages. Our team works hard to make sure our coupons are active and work as intended, and should you encounter an issue when using one, we’ll work just as hard to help.

The best place to start is by checking the requirements. Click “View terms and conditions” to expand the code section and see any guidance on your chosen coupon. For example, you may need to meet a minimum spend, add other items to your basket to qualify for a multibuy offer, or confirm that your chosen code applies to the items in your basket (i.e. 10% off laptops).

If you’re still having issues using your code, you can email our customer service team on coupons.techradar@futurenet.com. Include as many details as possible - such as which code you used and which coupon page it’s listed on so our team can address your issue as fast as possible.

How we make money

When it comes to coupons, TechRadar earns money via a commission-based model. For every brand we have a coupon page for, we’ve negotiated a deal that means we earn a percentage of total basket value in commission back from every order.

Using this model means we can offer our coupons to our customers free of charge. You won’t pay any fees to add your chosen coupon to your basket - you’ll simply pay the final order total once your discount has been applied.

If you want to find out more about TechRadar’s coupons pages, you can visit our dedicated page on How We Source Coupon Codes and How to Use Them for more information.
