Virtus.pro has disbanded its Dota 2 roster after The International 2026 following a disappointing season. The longstanding esports organization, though, has reaffirmed its commitment to Valve’s MOBA title.
VP announced the decision after the team failed to meet its goals throughout the 2025-2026 Dota 2 season. The Russian org said the roster’s results fell short of the expectations of the club, its fans, and the players, all of whom joined the team with ambitions of competing for trophies.
“We appreciate the work the team has put in during this time, but believe that changes are necessary in the current situation. Therefore, the club has decided to part ways with the current roster,” VP said in a statement.

The disbanded lineup consisted of:

- Jonáš “SaberLight” Volek – Offlaner
- Kirill “Hellscream” Lagutik – Soft support
- Tal “Fly” Aizik – Hard support/Captain
- Kanishka “BuLba” Sosale – Coach
Virtus.pro’s international roster began taking shape in September last year, when the org brought in the ex-Shopify Rebellion core of Fly, Abed, and SaberLight after missing out on The International for the second consecutive year. Veteran captain Fly and his crew, however, struggled to produce consistent results at tier 1 tournaments during the season.
VP’s best finish came at DreamLeague Season 27, where they placed seventh-eighth. The team ended up last at FISSURE Playground 2, and failed to reach the playoffs at ESL One Birmingham and PGL Wallachia Season 8.
Virtus.pro’s struggles ultimately extended to the TI 2026 European qualifiers. The squad reached the upper bracket qualifying match but lost 1-2 to eventual TI runners-up TEAM VISION.
VP then faced HULIGANI in the lower bracket decider but suffered another painful 1-2 defeat, ending their hopes of reaching the year’s biggest Dota 2 tournament where Team Spirit made history as the first organization to claim a third Aegis of Champions. It was the third straight time that the org failed to qualify for TI.
The team last competed at the Esports World Cup 2026, where they crashed out of the Survival Stage after losing to Rune Eaters.
Despite disbanding its current roster, Virtus.pro said it has no plans to leave the Dota 2 scene. The org has been competing in the MOBA title since 2012 and has achieved a record five Major championships, although it has yet to win at TI.
“Virtus.pro remain committed to Dota 2. This title has always held a special place for our club, and we will continue working toward returning with a team capable of competing at the highest level,” the org said.
VP added that further details about its future Dota 2 roster will be announced separately.
