Virginia's $150 Million Premium Aid Could Cut Net Marketplace Premiums Up to 70%, but Funds Are First-Come, First-Served

Virginians with low to moderate incomes may be able to lower their 2027 health insurance premiums through a new state program when open enrollment begins Nov. 1. The money is limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, so timing matters, according to Cardinal News and the state's program FAQ.

The program, called Virginia Premium Savings, has $150 million and is expected to help about 200,000 people. Lawmakers directed the state exchange to create savings that could reduce eligible consumers' net monthly premiums by as much as 70%.
