As March and the final games of the men’s college basketball regular season approach, the top five of the latest Associated Press top 25 poll remains intact from last week. But there was plenty of movement outside the top five.
Houston remains in the top spot for the second consecutive week after a 19-point win over East Carolina.
Alabama, Kansas and UCLA won by slim margins over the weekend. The Tide took down Arkansas 86–83, while the Jayhawks won 76–74 over West Virginia and the Bruins rallied and won 60–56 over Colorado.
Purdue sits in the fifth spot again despite losing its fifth game of the season, this time in a Big Ten matchup against Indiana. The Hoosiers jumped up two spots to No. 15 after the win.
No. 8 Arizona dropped one spot after their buzzer-beater loss to rival Arizona State on Saturday.
Virginia produced the biggest drop of the week, sliding down seven spots after losing 63-48 at Boston College on Wednesday and 71–63 at unranked UNC on Saturday. The Cavaliers now sit at No. 13.
On the other hand, UConn is surging its way back up the rankings after a 95–86 win over St. John’s. UConn now sits at No. 14 after moving up four spots.
Maryland hopped into the top 25 after taking the No. 21 spot from Northwestern following a 75–59 win over the Wildcats on Sunday.
